TAMPA, May 5, 2011 — Florida-based reporters who are planning news stories on Hurricane Season preparedness are invited to contact the Florida representative of the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.) at 813-480-6446 for tips on how citizens can take action now to protect their families and property in the event of a hurricane.

The I.I.I. can provide information and analysis on insurance coverage issues to help Floridians understand how their insurance works and what is covered under a standard homeowners insurance policy. Ìý
Additionally, the I.I.I. has white papers and background information related to catastrophes and insurance, flood insurance and facts and statistics on hurricanes. Information related specifically to Florida can be found explaining , the importance of , and how impact the cost of a policy.
Ìý
In order to help consumers understand how insurance works after a disaster, the I.I.I. has also produced a variety of podcasts on topics such as How to File a Homeowners Insurance Claim and Understanding Trees and Insurance. These podcasts can also be downloaded to a PDA.
Ìý
The I.I.I. can also provide interviews and information in Spanish.
